THE RED LEATHER - STYLING
LINDER STERLING STREETSTYLE
THIS SHOOT WAS A CONTINUATION FROM ONE OF THE WORKSHOPS WE HAD PREVIOUSLY DONE WITHIN BRANDING. AS WE HAD THE PHOTOMONTAGE ARTIST LINDER STERLING TO RESEARCH, AND CREATE A NEW BRAND FOR HER IDENTITY. FROM THE DESIGNS WE HAD CREATED BEFORE HAND ON THE SWEATERS, WE DECIDED TO CREATE THIS TO SHOOT WITH. I WAS ABLE TO BUY SOME TRANSFER PAPER, WHICH ALLOWED ME TO PRINT THE IMAGES OFF, AND IRON ONTO THE SWEATERS EASILY. WE USED LINDER STERLING'S DESIGNS, AND PLACED THEM ON A BLACK, AND SAND COLOUR SWEATER, AND THEN ONTO A PLAIN WHITE OVERSIZED T SHIRT, HOWEVER I FELT THE SWEATERS PERSONALLY LOOKED BETTER.
WITHIN THE DESIGNS SEEN ON THE LINDER STERLING WORKSHOP PAGE, THERE WAS ONE HOODIE THAT HAD ONE ARM THAT HAD FAUX FUR ON IT, WHICH WE WERE THINKING OF COMPLETING THIS LOOK, BUT WE DON'T PERSONALLY HAVE A DESIGNING STREAK WITHIN US AS A GROUP. HOWEVER, WE GOT SOME GREAT SHOTS WITH THE INFLUENCE OF LINDER STERLING'S WORK.
BELOW IS A MOODBOARD WE HAD MADE BEFORE THE SHOOT, AND AS YOU CAN SEE WE WANTED A MENS STREETSTYLE FEEL TOWARDS IT, HOWEVER WE WERE UNABLE TO FIND ANY MALE MODELS BEFORE THE SHOOT SO WE DECIDED TO MAKE THE SWEATERS UNISEX, As well as the shoot, and the results were very successful. we made the identity of linder sterling's brand universal for every gender, and person, which was one of Linder's view of women within the post-punk era, that women were seen to be sexualised, so it was important to include both sexes within this shoot. that both genders are equal.
additionally, taking this shoot in the evening allows the models, and colours to stand out effectively. plus, i feel that we were able to present a dark, and grungy style that linder sterling has created with her identity, and her artwork.
