ASSESSMENT CENTre REFLECTION

FOR THE ASSESSMENT CENTRE IN THE ETIHAD STADIUM, WE HAD TO APPLY FOR A JOB ROLE THAT SUITED OUR ROLE FOR FASHION PROMOTION STUDENTS. OUR JOB ROLE WE APPLIED FOR WAS FOR HEARST MAGAZINE, WHICH WAS A COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT FOR THE COMPANY. WE WERE THEN GIVEN TWO TASK TO CHOOSE FROM, WHICH I CHOOSE:

"USING A SWOT ANALYSIS, EVALUATE KINFOLK AGAINST ONE OR MORE OF THE HEARST MAGAZINES, IDENTIFYING DIFFERENCES AND CONSIDER WHETHER THIS IS THE WAY FORWARD FOR THE UK AND GLOABL AUDIENCES."

I SPECIFICALLY CHOSE THIS TASK AS I HAD AN INTEREST WITH THE LIFESTYLE MAGAZINE KINFOLK, AS I LOVE THE STYLE, AND AESTHETIC THE MAGAZINE PRODUCES FOR THEIR AUDIENCE. WE WERE GIVEN THIS TASK TO PRESENT OUR RESEARCH, AND IDEAS TO A PERSON WORKING WITHIN THE COMPANY, AND A SMALL GORUP OF OTHER PEOPLE, WHICH I HAVE PLACED MY PRESENTATION ABOVE IN A SLIDE. I WAS BALE TO PRINT THIS SLIDE, AND HAVE FOUR BINDED FOR HANDOUTS WITHIN THE GROUP. WE ALSO HAD TO DO FURTHER RESEARCH OF HEARST MAGAZINE FOR A 1-2-1 PROFESSIONAL INTERVIEW, WHICH I PREPARED WITH PRACTICE QUESTIONS.

THESE ARE TWO MOODBOARDS I PRODUCED TO OMPARE THE STYLE OF BOTH MAGAZINES TO INCLUDE WITHIN MY PRESENTATION. I CHOSE TO RESEARCH, AND EXPAND MY IDEAS WITH BOTH KINFOLK, AND HARPER'S BAZAAR MAGAZINE.

WHILST WE WERE AT THE ASSESSMENT CENTRE AT THE ETIHAD STADIUM, WE WERE ALSO GIVEN ANOTHER TASK TO COMPLETE AN IDEA WITHIN A SMALL TEAM, TO HELP PREPARE FOR THE INDUSTRY WE ARE WORKING TOWARDS AFTER WE FINISH UNIVERSITY. I FELT THIS WAS QUITE HELPFUL, AS IT HELPED ME LEARN HOW TO PRESENT MY IDEAS, AND ALSO LISTEN TO OTHER PEOPLES IDEAS EQUALLY, AND WORK TOGETHER TO GET THE BEST OUT OF THE TASK WE WERE GIVEN.

THE 1-2-1 INTERVIEW I FOUND THE MOST DIFFICULT OUT OF ALL THREE EXCERSISES, AS I FELT I DID NOT PREPARE AS MUCH AS I THOUGHT I HAD, AS I FELT I WAS REALLY NERVOUS, AND IT IMPACTED MY ANSWERS THAT THE ASSESSOR GAVE ME. ADDITIONALLY, I ALSO FELT I WAS REPEATING MYSELF A LOT THROUGHOUT THE INTERVIEW, WHICH ALSO STRESSED ME OUT EVEN MORE THROUGHOUT THE 10 MINUTES OF THE INTERVIEW.

MY PRESENTATION I PRODUCED I THOUGHT WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL, AS I HAD A INTEREST WITH THE TASK, AND THE MAGAZINE I WAS GIEVN TO RESEARCH INTO. FURTHERMORE, AS I HAD A PERSONAL INTEREST WITH THESE MAGAZINES, IT ALLOWED ME TO FEEL COMFORTABLE TALKING TO THE ASSESSOR, AND OTHER PEOPLE ABOUT MY IDEAS. PLUS, I WAS VERY ORGANISED WITH MY HANDOUTS, LARGE PRINTS OF SPECIFIC MOODBAORDS AND NOTES ON SMALL CARDS TO PROMPT MYSELF WITH MY IDEAS.
